My Last Day
I haven't posted in quite a while, for many reasons actually. However I just wanted to let the few of you on here I got to know, that today was my last day of employment at UA. This was my choice, and done for a few reasons. I don't feel it is that important to get into the particulars here, but I have always been a big big fan of the motto of "If you don't like it, leave." I certainly was not liking it anymore, and.... I left. For anyone who is curious I will be continuing my education, and, how do they put it at WHQ "persuing other endeavors"
To the customers here that I may or may not have dealt with, it was my pleasure to assist you. To those of you who yelled at me, don't worry, I took it out on the guy in line behind you ...
To any UAL employees that may be reading, regardless of what I think of them, I wish you all the best of luck, in whatever you find yourself doing.
To UA itself.... I sincerely hope things work out for the blue and gray, thanks for the memories, the experiences, and most importantly, for those free F suites

A whole slew of valued CSRs in CLE just informed me of similar news to that of GGPillow. Most had 25-35 years of service.
UA offered them to quit now and keep their $45 per month health care benefit for their family plan or stay on the job and have the health care charge raised to $320 per month.
CLE has been essentially wiped clean of any insitutional memory, with the release of 95% of its senior staff. And with no CTO anymore, getting a ticket issued at the airport has become a prolonged agony-ridden burden...and I'm NOT being melodramatic here.
Good luck in your future endeavors, GG, sounds like you have alot of company.

1. I appreciate the great UA input you have added here in the past 18 months.
2. I did NOT appreciate you not working when they tossed us off a DEN-IAD flight.
3. Well if I can't have your red beanie you'll never go incognito in future.

</font>The same is true at ORD and SEA-- ORD's losing something like 50 folks and SEA 30-ish-- all good agents who will be dearly missed.

GG, all the best to you! Thank you for your comments, which have been EXTREMELY frank and helpful for everyone here at Flyertalk. Although we've never met, your information has saved me more than once!
I agree that the "institutional memory" is very important for an organization. Virtually every "character" or memorable personality at my home airport is a senior employee, many of who have worked various positions at UA. The great folks we refer to as angels can work miracles not because they are skirting the rules, but because they know the system inside and out. This type of experience can't be reproduced at any new hire or training class.
I know it sounds strange, but in all my time travelling on UA, many of these folks have become sort of an extended family. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that shares the sadness when we see all these great people heading off to BP7a land. To all of them, I say enjoy your well deserved retirement and happy travels!

GGPillow-
I wish you the best of luck. I hope that your departure from UA does not mean a departure from contributing to this board
