Colorado Rockies - Overview (2024)

  • AdaelAmador

    COL Shortstop #1

Adael Amador was removed from Thursday’s game against the Dodgers due to a “mild” oblique strain.

Rockies manager Bud Black characterized it as a mild strain that’s similar to one he was dealing with earlier this year at Double-A Hartford. We’ll see. Amador went 1-for-3 with a single prior to being lifted from Thursday’s contest against the Dodgers in the eighth inning and could wind up requiring a trip to the injured list if he’s unable to play through the injury. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

  • RyanMcMahon

    COL Third Baseman #24

Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Dodgers on Thursday.

The home run was McMahon’s 13th of the year. It was McMahon’s third game in a row with at least two hits. Over his last eight games, he’s 13-for-33 (.393) with three home runs, nine runs scored and six RBI. McMahon is up to .274 with a .826 OPS and 40 RBI on the season.

  • Ty Blach allowed five runs in four innings and took the loss against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Blach gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out two. He continues to give up hits in bunches as he’s now allowed 35 hits over his last four starts. Blach’s ERA is up to 5.13 on the season and he remains off the fantasy radar. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros on the road next week.

  • NolanJones

    COL Third Baseman #22

Nolan Jones (illness) is not in the Rockies lineup on Thursday against the Dodgers.

Jones will miss his second straight game with an illness as Sean Bouchard fills in for him in left field and bats second. Jones has looked better since coming off the IL, going 5-for-13 (.385) with one stolen base and just two strikeouts to eight walks. The plate discipline improvements are really nice to see and there might still be a buy low window here before he returns to the lineup from this bout of sickness.

  • CharlieBlackmon

    COL Right Fielder #19

Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) is not in the Rockies’ lineup on Thursday against the Dodgers.

It’s unfortunate timing for Blackmon, who was hitting over .300 over his last two weeks but now finds himself battling an injury during a week in which the Rockies will play all their games at home. For fantasy managers who picked Blackmon up, it’s OK to move on from him in shallower formats since it’s not a given he returns on Friday. Elehuris Montero will DH and hit fifth on Thursday.

  • MichaelToglia

    COL First Baseman #4

Michael Toglia went 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, and three RBI in a 7-6 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Toglia got the scoring started for the Rockies in the first inning with a three-run blast off Bobby Miller. He then led off the fourth with a triple before scoring on a groundout. The 25-year-old first baseman is slashing .191/.238/.436 with six homers and 20 RBI across 101 plate appearances.

  • BrentonDoyle

    COL Right Fielder #9

Brenton Doyle went 0-for-3 with two RBI against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Doyle went hitless on Wednesday, but still had two of the Rockies’ biggest at-bats. He brought in the tying run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly. With the game still tied in the bottom of the ninth, he brought the winning run in to score with his second sacrifice fly. The 26-year-old outfielder is hitting a solid .271/.337/.402 with six homers, 43 runs scored, 23 RBI, and 18 steals across 283 plate appearances.

  • RyanFeltner

    COL Starting Pitcher #18

Ryan Feltner surrendered six runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Feltner worked a scoreless first inning before loading the bases on a single, hit batter, and a walk in the second. Shohei Ohtani cleared the bases with a three-run double to put the Dodgers on the board. Freddie Freeman followed with a base hit to make it a four-run inning. Feltner worked through two more scoreless frames before Jason Hayward brought a pair of runs in to score on a double in the fifth. Feltner was done after five innings, striking out six on the day. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 6.02 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 73/22 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Tuesday.

  • NolanJones

    COL Third Baseman #22

Nolan Jones was scratched from the Rockies’ starting lineup on Wednesday night due to illness.

Fortunately, he’s not dealing with any serious ailments and should be able to return to action in a day or two. Sean Bouchard will start in his place in left field and will bat sixth for the Rockies against Bobby Miller and the Dodgers.

  • NolanJones

    COL Third Baseman #22

Nolan Jones was scratched from the Rockies’ starting lineup on Wednesday.

No word given yet on the reason for the late scratch, but it could simply be that they wanted to get Sean Bouchard in there after he was activated from the injured list on Wednesday. Stay tuned, as the Rockies should have an update on his status shortly.
