June 21Welcome to the weekly construction updates for the 2024 West River Road MSA Overlay project happening in your neighborhood. We want to keep you as updated as possible, so we will send these emails every week until construction is complete. Project OverviewCIP 4002-24 West River Road Municipal State Aid Overlay project runs between Brookdale Drive and Newton Avenue. This overlay project includes replacing the asphalt road surface (upper 2 inches), spot replacements of curb and gutter, storm sewer and water rehabilitation. Traffic ControlThe work on West River Road between Brookdale Drive and Newton Avenue will be done under one-way traffic SOUTHBOUND with the west side of West River Road closed off to accommodate the construction. The detour route for NORTHBOUND West River Road will be TH 252 to TH 610 to Noble Parkway to 97th Avenue, residents can also use 85th Ave if they live on West River Road south of 85th. Please see link of detour map. SOUTHBOUND traffic will only be allowed throughout the entire time of construction even when the construction zone switches from the east side to the west side of West River Road. NORTHBOUND traffic will be detoured throughout the entire time of construction. Traffic control is set up to provide a safe work zone for the contractor and the travelling public. The construction workers appreciate that.DETOUR MAPView map of Detour >CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE THROUGH JUNE 28 * Construction work zone is set up on the west side. * The contractor will continue to remove and replace concrete curb and gutter.CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE STARTING THE WEEK OF JULY 1 * The contractor will be continuing to replace concrete curb and gutter.MAILBOXES * We will need to set up temporary mailboxes just off West River Road for the safety of the postal delivery person and to allow traffic to freely travel. Please watch for a notification today from the contractor about switching your mail from your permanent mailbox to the temporary mailbox. They will also let you know where the location of the temporary mailbox will be. Once construction is completely done, they will deliver mail to your permanent mailbox again.GARBAGE CONTAINERS * All containers will need to be placed on the east side of the work zone so they can be picked up from the passenger side of the vehicle travelling down the one-way traffic lane.IRRIGATION SYSTEMS * If you have an irrigation system that was damaged due to the work from the contractor please contact Nate Musial so we can get that fixedCONSTRUCTION MAPView map of the construction project >EMERGENCY CONTACT AFTER HOURSIf you have an emergency related to the project after work hours or on weekends, please call 911.
